Red Rain continues to be the hottest film in Vietnamese cinemas, maintaining its top position over the weekend despite the release of several new titles. The blockbuster directed by Lieutenant Colonel Dang Thai Huyen officially surpassed 650 billion VND (approximately USD 27 million) by the end of September 14.

According to Box Office Vietnam, Red Rain exceeded the 650 billion VND milestone at 10 PM on September 14. Over the weekend, the film remained at the top of the box office, outperforming all other newly released movies. On September 14 alone, ticket sales for Red Rain matched the combined revenue of the remaining nine films in the top 10.

While the film’s earnings have slowed compared to its opening weeks, it continues to draw large audiences. Over the recent weekend, Red Rain grossed nearly 50 billion VND (around USD 2.1 million), selling over half a million tickets from more than 8,100 showings.

Hollywood’s horror blockbuster The Conjuring: The Last Rite, released on September 12, took second place with over 22 billion VND (roughly USD 916,000) from more than 215,000 tickets sold.

Get Rich With Ghosts 2: The Diamond War, starring Hoai Linh and Tuan Tran, continues to attract a dedicated audience after more than two weeks in theaters. It earned over 8 billion VND (USD 333,000) during the past weekend and has now surpassed 91 billion VND (approximately USD 3.8 million) - a commendable achievement considering Red Rain’s overwhelming dominance.

Meanwhile, the 18+ horror film The Bride Contract, featuring veteran actors Trung Anh and Minh Chau, debuted on September 12 but only ranked fourth with nearly 8 billion VND in weekend revenue. Including early screenings, total earnings are under 10 billion VND (approximately USD 416,000).

Looking ahead, Red Rain is expected to retain its box office lead into next week. However, its momentum may slow with the upcoming release of the highly anticipated Vietnamese film Dogfight, starring Thai Hoa and Thanh Son.
