Samsung has expanded its mobile device ecosystem with the launch of the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9, two new smartwatches powered by the Snapdragon Wear Elite processor and featuring AI-enhanced health monitoring, including sleep apnea detection. The top model is priced at VND18.99 million (US$725).

At the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, alongside its new foldable smartphones, Samsung also introduced the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9.

The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is the premium model in Samsung's smartwatch lineup, targeting users who participate in high-intensity sports and outdoor activities.

The device features a shock-resistant titanium case, a Sapphire display with a peak brightness of 5,000 nits for improved visibility under direct sunlight, and a design that is 12% thinner than the previous generation.

To support specialized sports, the watch incorporates altitude and gradient tracking for trail running. It also estimates sweat loss based on body weight to provide hydration recommendations.

The device is rated IP69K and 10 ATM for water resistance, while also carrying EN13319 certification for scuba diving. It can automatically record diving depth, water temperature and underwater movement speed.

In terms of hardware, the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is powered by the 3-nanometer Snapdragon Wear Elite processor and features an 800 mAh battery, representing a 35% increase over its predecessor.

The Galaxy Watch9 is designed for mainstream users, with an aluminum case, a display offering up to 3,000 nits of brightness, and two battery options: 390 mAh for the 40 mm model and 445 mAh for the 44 mm version.

Both watches use Samsung's latest-generation BioActive sensor system combined with AI algorithms to analyze users' biometric data.

One of the most notable features is Sleep Apnea detection, which has been authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to help identify breathing irregularities during sleep.

The watches also continuously monitor baseline vital signs, generate cardiovascular health scores, estimate Daily Cardio Load after each workout to recommend recovery time, and issue alerts when surrounding noise levels exceed safe hearing thresholds.

Samsung said the new smartwatch lineup is designed to move beyond passive health tracking by providing more in-depth analysis, enabling users to proactively monitor and manage their health through a wearable device.

In Vietnam, the new watches became available on July 22.

The suggested retail price for the 47 mm Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is VND18.99 million (US$725).

The Galaxy Watch9 is priced at VND9.99 million (US$380) for the 40 mm version and VND10.99 million (US$420) for the 44 mm model.
