While some smartphones have seen price cuts exceeding 30%, others have been discounted by more than 10%. The new prices make flagship features more accessible, but which devices offer the best value for money?

Several smartphones priced between VND10 million and VND20 million have seen substantial price reductions in October.
Galaxy Z Flip 6 sees biggest price cut, making foldables more affordable

Among smartphones priced between VND10 million and VND20 million (approximately US$380-760), the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is now listed at VND17 million (US$646), representing a 40% discount in October 2026.

This is the largest percentage reduction among the models surveyed.

The Galaxy Z Flip 6's appeal goes beyond its lower price. Its clamshell design allows the phone to fold into a compact size, while the 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display with a 120Hz refresh rate delivers a premium viewing experience.

The 3.4-inch cover screen also allows users to check notifications, access widgets and perform quick tasks without unfolding the device.

Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor, paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Its 50MP main camera handles everyday photography, while the foldable design offers greater flexibility for shooting from different angles.

However, there are some compromises to consider. The 4,000mAh battery is relatively modest compared with many current Android smartphones, while 25W wired charging is hardly class-leading.

The folding mechanism and flexible display also require more careful handling, particularly as the device ages.

At VND17 million, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is an attractive option for buyers looking to experience a premium foldable smartphone without spending close to VND20 million.

Before purchasing, however, buyers should confirm the actual retail price, whether the device is brand new, and the warranty coverage for the display and hinge.

Xiaomi 15 5G drops 30%, offering flagship performance and 512GB storage

The Xiaomi 15 5G with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage is listed at VND18.5 million (US$703), down 30% according to October 2026 pricing data.

Compared with the Galaxy S25 Edge, this model costs VND500,000 (US$19) less while offering twice the storage capacity.

That is a significant advantage for users who frequently take photos, record videos, download large games or store substantial amounts of data directly on their phones.

With 512GB of storage, users are also less likely to face the inconvenience of regularly deleting files to free up space.

The Xiaomi 15 features the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a 120Hz AMOLED display and a camera system developed in collaboration with Leica.

This combination makes it appealing to buyers seeking a relatively compact smartphone without compromising on processing power or photographic versatility.

Compared with the Galaxy S25 Edge, the Xiaomi 15 offers a clear storage advantage in the configurations being compared, while Samsung's device is more appealing to those who prioritise an ultra-slim design.

The better choice therefore depends on individual needs rather than the size of the discount alone.

One consideration is that the Xiaomi 15 remains relatively expensive. Buyers should check the software update policy, warranty coverage and actual retail prices before making a decision.

For those who do not need 512GB of storage, a less expensive smartphone may provide better overall value.

Galaxy S25 Edge discounted 38%, with ultra-thin design as its main attraction

Another notable option is the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge 5G with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Following recent price adjustments at selected retailers, the device is available for around VND18 million (US$684), a reduction of 38%.

The Galaxy S25 Edge targets users who appreciate a sleek, lightweight smartphone but still want flagship-level performance.

It features the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, 12GB of RAM and a high-quality display, making it suitable for work, entertainment, gaming and demanding multitasking.

Unlike the Galaxy Z Flip 6, the S25 Edge uses a conventional slab design without a hinge or foldable display.

This may appeal to buyers who prefer a straightforward smartphone experience and want to avoid concerns associated with folding mechanisms.

However, the ultra-thin design also involves compromises, particularly in battery capacity and heat dissipation.

Users who frequently play demanding games, record lengthy videos or rely heavily on their phones throughout the day should carefully consider real-world battery performance before buying.

At VND18 million, the Galaxy S25 Edge is best suited to buyers who place design and processing performance above other considerations.

Those who prioritise battery endurance, camera versatility or storage capacity should compare it with competing models in the same price range.

HONOR 600 5G offers a balanced option at VND14.5 million

Priced at VND14.5 million (US$551), the HONOR 600 5G with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is among the most affordable devices in this five-model comparison.

Its listed discount is 19%.

The HONOR 600 5G's main advantage is its lower upfront cost compared with Samsung and Xiaomi models priced closer to VND19 million.

Its 256GB storage capacity should also be sufficient for most everyday needs, including installing applications and storing photos and videos.

However, its 8GB of RAM is lower than the 12GB offered by the Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy S25 Edge and Xiaomi 15.

This does not necessarily mean the HONOR 600 will perform more slowly in every situation, as actual performance also depends on the processor, software optimisation and the applications being used.

Before purchasing, buyers should carefully verify the specifications of the exact version on sale, particularly its processor, display, cameras, battery and software support period.

These factors have a greater influence on long-term usability than the headline 19% discount alone.

The HONOR 600 5G may therefore suit buyers looking for a modern smartphone with generous storage who do not necessarily need the highest specifications available in this price segment.

iPhone 16e stands out for its iOS ecosystem

The iPhone 16e with 128GB of storage is currently listed at around VND13.7 million (US$521) at selected retailers, approximately 5% below its previous listed price.

The device features Apple's A18 chip, a 6.1-inch OLED display and a 48MP main camera.

It is a suitable choice for users who prefer a compact design, the iOS operating system, seamless integration with other Apple devices and reliable performance for everyday tasks.

However, the 128GB storage capacity could become restrictive for users who keep large video libraries or install numerous games.

The iPhone 16e also lacks a dedicated ultra-wide camera, while its display is limited to a 60Hz refresh rate, below that offered by many Android smartphones in a similar price range.

Buyers should therefore compare the iPhone 16e with other iPhone models and premium Android alternatives before making a purchase.

Overall, discounts of 30-40% on selected Samsung and Xiaomi smartphones highlight increasingly intense price competition among previous-generation flagship devices.

As newer generations enter the market, price reductions allow still-powerful smartphones to reach a broader group of consumers.

Nevertheless, a large percentage discount does not automatically make a smartphone a bargain.

The original listed price, actual selling price, product condition, warranty coverage and expected usefulness over the next several years all deserve consideration.

In Vietnam's VND10-20 million smartphone segment this October, the smartest purchase is not necessarily the device with the biggest discount, but the one whose price and features best match the buyer's actual needs.
