Lao Cai Provincial Police said on Sept. 13 that they were coordinating with the provincial People’s Procuracy to investigate the death of a foreign national at the Sapaly Hotel, located at 48 Nguyen Hue Street in Lao Cai Ward.

At around 6:55 p.m. on Sept. 12, the provincial police’s Investigation Police Agency received a report that a man had fallen from the hotel’s 17th floor to an area outside the lobby and died.

Police subsequently worked with forensic officers, Lao Cai Ward police and the regional People’s Procuracy to examine the scene, conduct a postmortem examination and investigate the circumstances of the incident.

The man was identified by authorities as JOJUN, 37, a South Korean national.

He had been staying in Room 1605 at the hotel since Aug. 29 and was scheduled to check out on Sept. 15.

According to the initial investigation, at around 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 12, JOJUN left his room and went to the hotel’s 17th floor.

He then went to the balcony area before falling to the ground and dying.

Lao Cai Provincial Police’s Investigation Police Agency is continuing to investigate the case.
