Recently, pictures of a white cat sleeping next to a seriously ill man in Quang Ngai province went viral. A caption of one photo read: "My father, during his last days of illness, and before leaving... the cat was still wrapped around him like a grandchild."

Hundreds of people expressed sympathy to the writer and affectionate admiration of the cat.

The person who uploaded the touching photos was 33-year-old Nguyen Viet Trang from Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province. Trang was surprised when his photos of the cat were widely shared on social networks.

According to Trang, the cat lives with his niece. Whenever she visited her grandfather, she took the cat with her. During the last Tet holiday, she stayed with her grandfather for over a month, so the cat spent a lot of time with Trang’s father.

On his father's 21-day worshiping ceremony after his death, Trang's niece returned and brought the cat. 

While everyone was taking part in the ceremony, Trang saw the cat go under the altar of his father. When everyone left, the cat climbed onto the altar and curled up there. 

Trang also posted several old photos when his father was still alive with the cat lying next to him. 

Through the post, he said he wanted to convey a positive message about the affection between people and pets.
