Two bears have been rescued from a farm in the northern province of Ninh Binh Province by the Four Paws Viet organisation, ending bear keeping in the area.

The two female bears May and Binh Yen rescued on April 26 were kept at Dang Van Can’s house in Ninh Binh City for 15 years.  

The bears weigh between 150 and 170 kilos.

According to medical check-up by Four Paws Viet organisation experts, May had some injuries to its bile and liver.

The two bears have been sent to Ninh Binh Bear Sanctuary for care.

The rescue has ended the bear keeping in Ninh Binh Province.

Another bear named Hai Chan at Dang Van Can’s house was also taken to Ninh Binh Bear Sanctuary which covers 10 hectares and is Vietnam’s first bear preservation centre.
