Vietnam's national futsal team produced another impressive performance with a convincing 4-1 victory over New Zealand, moving to four points after two matches at the 2026 Continental Futsal Championship in Thailand.

Following a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Russia in their opening match, head coach Diego Raul Giustozzi's side maintained its strong form with an energetic display against New Zealand.

Vietnam started confidently and created a dangerous opportunity within the opening seconds, although New Zealand's goalkeeper reacted quickly to keep the score level.

Persistent pressure eventually paid off in the fourth minute. After a well-worked attacking move, Trinh Cong Dai finished clinically to give Vietnam a deserved 1-0 lead.

Vietnam continued to dominate possession and create chances after the break.

However, New Zealand drew level in the 30th minute when Osey found the net to make it 1-1.

Vietnam responded immediately. Just three minutes later, a swift counterattack ended with Chau Doan Phat restoring Vietnam's advantage and making it 2-1.

Buoyed by the goal, Vietnam continued to press forward.

In the 35th minute, Nguyen Thinh Phat extended the lead to 3-1, before Tran Thai Huy sealed an emphatic 4-1 victory with a goal two minutes later.

The result leaves Vietnam with four points from two matches, strengthening the team's position in the friendly tournament after an encouraging start against two quality opponents.

Vietnam will return to action later on August 3, facing Afghanistan in its next match, scheduled to kick off at 8:30 p.m. local time.
