Vietnam’s top tennis player Ly Hoang Nam has advanced 173 places to reach world No. 1,002 in the latest Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) men’s doubles rankings. 

 Pham Cao Cuong of HCM City beat his teammate Nguyen Tien Minh to win the men’s singles category of the National Individual Badminton Tournament which wrapped up at the weekend in the northern province of Thái Bình.

 Ly Hoang Nam grabbed two titles at the Vietnam F5 Men’s Future tennis tournament, which closed in the southern province of Binh Duong on September 25.

 Nearly 200 badminton players from 15 countries and territories will compete at Kawasaki Vietnam International Series 2016, which will kick off in the northern province of Bac Ninh on September 28. 

Ly Hoang Nam was crowned champion at the men's singles event of the 2016 Vietnam F5 Men’s Futures tournament, after beating his Japanese rival Masato Shiga 2-0, in the final in the southern province of Binh Duong on September 25.

 Vietnamese athlete Phan Thi Phuong bagged Vietnam’s first gold medal of the fifth Asian Beach Games, which officially kicked off on September 24 in the central city of Danang.

 After missing out on the final, Vietnam performed brilliantly in the match for third-place at Hang Day Stadium in Hanoi on September 24, thrashing Timor Leste with a score of 4-0 to claim the bronze medal of the 2016 AFF U-19 Championship.
