The decision was made during the federation’s congress held in Hanoi on April 28. Duong Manh Tien, Chairman of the Board at Vietnam Sports Joint Stock Company, received strong support to take on the role.

The newly elected leadership also includes four vice presidents - Tran Thuy Chi, Pham Ngoc Son, Le Tri Truong, and Vu Quang Huy. Le Tri Truong will continue serving as general secretary for the new term.

“Volleyball is a sport that attracts significant attention and features many exciting competitions in Vietnam. I have high expectations that the new executive committee will continue to improve professional work, develop grassroots movements, and achieve even better results,” the new VFV president said.

Reviewing the previous term from 2021 to 2026, general secretary Le Tri Truong highlighted key accomplishments, particularly the progress of the women’s indoor volleyball team.

However, the federation also acknowledged areas that require improvement. These include better organization of national competitions and raising the overall standard of Vietnam’s national teams.

Clear targets for the new term

A central objective for the 2026-2031 term is to secure a gold medal at the SEA Games, either with the men’s or women’s national team. Vietnam’s beach volleyball teams are tasked with winning at least a silver medal at the same event.

On the continental stage, the federation aims for the women’s team to reach the top four at the Asian Games 2030, while the men’s team is expected to finish in the top eight.

At the Asian Volleyball Championship, the focus is on helping the women’s team consistently finish in the top three, paving the way for qualification to the Volleyball Nations League (VNL).

With a new leadership team in place, Vietnam volleyball is entering a phase defined by higher expectations and a clear roadmap toward regional and international success.
