Head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and the Vietnam women’s volleyball team gather in Hanoi.

The national team convened on May 25 with 12 players, including Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Vo Thi Kim Thoa, Le Nhu Anh, Le Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Khanh Dang, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Vi Thi Yen Nhi, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Le Thi Yen, Dinh Thi Thuy, Nguyen Thi Uyen and Doan Thi Xuan. Two players - Dang Thi Kim Thanh and Ly Thi Luyen - are set to join later.

To encourage head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his squad ahead of the demanding season, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) organized a special gathering titled “Vietnam Volleyball Journey 2026.”

The VFV praised the rapid progress of Vietnamese volleyball in recent years, especially the women’s team’s strong performances at both regional and continental competitions.

In 2026, Vietnam’s women’s team will enter a series of key international tournaments, beginning with the AVC Women’s Volleyball Cup 2026 in the Philippines. The tournament features 12 of Asia’s top national teams outside the Volleyball Nations League field. Thanh Thuy and her teammates are aiming to defend their title for a fourth consecutive time.

The team will then compete in the 2026 SEA V-League, with the first leg taking place in Vietnam from July 31 to August 2 and the second leg in Thailand from August 7 to 9.

Vietnam made history at the 2025 SEA V-League by defeating Thailand 3-2 and capturing the second-leg title.

The schedule also includes the VTV Cup from August 8 to 15, followed by the Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship in China from August 21 to 30.

However, the team’s primary mission in 2026 is the Asian Games in September in Japan. The VFV has assigned Nguyen Tuan Kiet’s side the target of reaching the semifinals - matching the historic top-four finish achieved at the previous Asiad.
