Asia remained Vietnam’s largest export market, accounting for 44.7% of the total turnover, followed by the Americas with 22.7% and Europe with 13.8%. Africa and Oceania represented 3% and 1.4%, respectively.

Solutions to fully tap opportunities and overcome global market challenges to boost agro-forestry-fishery exports in 2025 were discussed at a recent conference organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.

In just the first eight months of 2025, a Vietnamese business has earned approximately 392 billion VND (around $15.1 million) solely by exporting various types of plant leaves to foreign customers.

Despite a decline in the August export value, the overall eight-month performance remained positive, with most product groups posting growth.

Eighty years after the August Revolution and National Day (September 2), Vietnam has transformed from a poverty-stricken nation into a global agricultural export powerhouse, with several key products leading the world.

Leading the growth were agricultural products, with exports valued at 21.49 billion USD, up 17%. This was followed by forestry products at 10.38 billion USD, up 8.6% and seafood at 6.06 billion USD, up 13.8%.

The Philippines remained Vietnam’s largest rice buyer, accounting for 43.4% of total exports, though the market saw a 17.4% decline in value.

The results, coupled with the trend of accelerating exports towards year-end, the total export value for 2025 may reach 67 billion USD.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment sketched out roadmap for the remainder of the year, targeting 14–15 billion USD in Q3 and at least 16 billion USD in Q4, capitalising on the surge in global demand during the year-end holiday season.

Breaking down the figures, agricultural products accounted for 15.29 billion USD, up 16.3% while livestock products totalled 217.2 milion USD, an 11.7% increase.
