A clip circulating on social media showed the driver operating a passenger bus while holding a microphone and singing karaoke. The footage quickly drew public attention and was forwarded to the Traffic Police Department's official fanpage.
After receiving the information, the Traffic Police Division of Nghe An Provincial Police launched an investigation. Authorities identified the vehicle involved as a passenger bus bearing registration number 29B-094.xx.
On June 4, officers from the Dien Chau Traffic Police Station summoned the driver for questioning. He was identified as V.V.T., 29, from Quynh Tam Commune in Nghe An Province.
At the police station, T. admitted to the violations and accepted the administrative penalties imposed under Vietnamese traffic regulations.
Based on the investigation, traffic police cited the driver for two offences: using a handheld electronic device while operating a moving vehicle and failing to wear a seatbelt while driving.
For the violations, the driver was fined a total of VND5.9 million (US$225) and had four points deducted from his driving licence.
