"We display war artifacts so that the next generation can see how parents went through harsh historical periods to gain and maintain independence today," said Mr. Nguyen Van Tu about the museum.

“In this cemetery alone, there are 10,700 graves. Peace is more important than anything you have in the world,” said Nadav Eshcar, Israeli Ambassador to Vietnam.

“People cut up bombs or carry them while driving their motorbikes to sell them as scrap metal. So, we need to teach people to be afraid of unexploded bombs,” said Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh.

The Government spends money to clear bombs and mines. Wherever the soil becomes ‘clean’, soldiers’ remains have been exhumed and moved. That means the debt to soldiers is being paid step by step, said Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh.
