Taking advantage of a weekend break, Thu Ha from Hanoi and a group of friends traveled about 240km to Ta Xua commune in Son La province, formerly Lang Cheu commune in Bac Yen district, to see the wild apple blossoms in full bloom.

“After seeing many photos of the wild apple flowers in Ta Xua shared on social media, we were really impressed. So we decided to take a two-day, one-night trip here to enjoy the romantic scenery of the northwest mountains,” Ha said.

In Ta Xua, the period from late February to early March each year marks the time when wild apple trees - also known locally as tao meo - begin to bloom, spreading their pure white blossoms across the forests and hillsides.

At first glance, the flowers resemble plum blossoms. Each flower has a yellow center surrounded by delicate petals. The blossoms often grow in dense clusters that weave together along the branches.

Each flower usually has four to five small, thin petals. When blooming at their peak, they create clusters of soft ivory-white blossoms.

Young tourism worker Linh Xinh, who lives in Ta Xua, said the wild apple blossom season is relatively short, lasting only about three to four weeks. After that, the flowers gradually fade and the trees begin to produce new buds.

Linh suggested several beautiful places for photographing the blossoms, including the road leading into the former Lang Cheu commune. This area currently has the most abundant and striking blooms.

Another location frequently visited by travelers is the Happy Town Ta Xua homestay, located in the area known as Dinh Gio. Here, many wild apple trees are blooming simultaneously, surrounding the houses with clusters of white flowers.

Visitors who are not staying overnight can still ask the homestay owner for permission to enter and take photos among the blossoms.

The road leading to the former Hang Dong commune, now part of Ta Xua, also features many blooming wild apple trees, although the density of blossoms here is not as thick as in Lang Cheu.

“March weather in Ta Xua is no longer too cold, and it is convenient to travel between villages, making it a good time for visitors to come and admire the wild apple blossom season,” Linh said.

She also noted that Ta Xua becomes quite crowded in March, so travelers planning to stay overnight should book accommodation in advance.

Mornings and nights can still be chilly, so visitors are advised to bring warm jackets and comfortable shoes to move easily between blossom viewing spots.

Travelers are also encouraged to maintain cleanliness and protect the natural landscape while visiting and taking photos.

Beyond Ta Xua, visitors can also travel to Nam Nghiep village in Ngoc Chien commune, Son La province, formerly part of Muong La district, to admire another beautiful wild apple blossom season while exploring other attractions in the region.
