Update news border gates with China
The Prime Minister has ordered round-the-clock customs operations and emergency coordination among ministries to ensure smooth food import and export procedures.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has proposed an urgent revision of Decree 46, citing serious congestion at border checkpoints due to new food safety regulations.
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son has signed a decision approving a pilot scheme to develop a smart border gate at the Mong Cai (Vietnam) – Dongxing (China) international border gate pair.
The Mong Cai International Border Gate is already equipped with modern systems, including automated goods control, barcode and QR code scanners, facial recognition cameras, and automatic vehicle monitoring.
The Mong Cai (Vietnam) - Dongxing (China) international border gate pair will be developed into a smart border gate pair.
More than 300,000 tonnes of goods were traded through the crossing points of the Mong Cai International Border Gate as of late February, a 56.4% increase year-on-year.
Vietnamese and Chinese will be permitted to drive through Mong Cai Border Gate in the northern province of Quang Ninh to Dongxing City, China from October 30.
A ceremony to start work on Huu Nghi (Vietnam) – Youyi Guan (China) smart border gate project took place on September 15.
The local congestion waiting for customs clearance at border gates in Lang Son Province has become increasingly serious since the beginning of this March.
