The city's Steering Committee for Site Clearance of Investment Projects met on June 16 with departments, agencies and local authorities to review progress on key infrastructure developments and land acquisition efforts.
The meeting was held in person at the Hanoi Party Committee headquarters and connected online with relevant communes and wards. Nguyen Trong Dong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and head of the steering committee, chaired the session. Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Bui Duy Cuong also attended.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, site clearance for major projects has shown positive developments in recent months, with implementation progress improving significantly.
Among seven bridge projects crossing the Red River, local authorities have completed land clearance for six projects. Only the Tran Hung Dao Bridge project remains in its final stages.

For major transport projects aimed at reducing congestion, the city has completed land clearance for several large developments, including the Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section of Ring Road 1, Ring Road 4 of the Capital Region, Tam Trinh Road, the road surrounding the Chu Van An memorial complex, and the connector route linking Thang Long Boulevard with the Hanoi - Hoa Binh Expressway.
Several projects remain under active land clearance efforts, including Ring Road 3 sections in Phuc Thinh, Dong Anh and Thu Lam communes, Ring Road 3.5, National Highway 6 from Ba La to Xuan Mai, Tay Thang Long Road and the Linh Nam Road expansion project.
Officials noted that most major projects no longer face significant obstacles related to compensation, support policies or resettlement arrangements.
Between March and May, the Department of Agriculture and Environment issued more than 60 guidance documents to help local authorities resolve difficulties and accelerate implementation.
Land acquisition and site clearance are also being carried out simultaneously for several major developments, including the Hanoi International Sports Urban Area, the Red River Landscape Boulevard project, the Medical Complex for Healthcare and Elderly Care combined with Hanoi Medical University facilities in Hoang Mai Ward, the Digital Technology Park and Mixed-Use Complex, and the road connecting Gia Binh Airport with Hanoi.
Long-term livelihoods must be secured for resettled residents
Addressing the meeting, Vice Chairman Bui Duy Cuong said local authorities and agencies have largely remained on schedule in line with directives from the Hanoi Party Committee, the city government and project requirements.
He urged departments and agencies to provide more direct support at the local level in resolving outstanding issues and to avoid excessive administrative exchanges that delay implementation.
Local authorities and relevant agencies were instructed to complete remaining site clearance work for key projects before June 30.
At the same time, units were directed to accelerate the completion of green spaces, parking facilities and related infrastructure to ensure the inauguration schedule for Ring Road 1 is met.
Concluding the meeting, Nguyen Trong Dong acknowledged the progress achieved in land clearance and major infrastructure development projects.
He particularly emphasized the need to guarantee living standards and sustainable livelihoods for residents relocating to new areas.
Resettlement zones, he said, must be equipped with adequate technical and social infrastructure, ensuring convenient access to schools, healthcare facilities, essential services and community spaces.
In addition, planning for resettlement and new urban areas should include job creation opportunities, commercial development and appropriate economic activities to provide residents with stable sources of income after relocation.
