On the morning of October 25, Malaysian national Goh Shu Wen and a companion were hiking on Hon Bo Mountain in Lam Vien - Da Lat Ward, Lam Dong Province, to enjoy the scenery.

While walking along the mountain, Goh accidentally fell into a pit approximately 10 meters deep, which had been left abandoned after mining activities ceased long ago.

Her companion attempted to rescue her but was unsuccessful and contacted local authorities for assistance.

After receiving the report, police in Lam Vien - Da Lat Ward coordinated with the Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Police Division (PC07) of Lam Dong Provincial Police to dispatch rescue personnel and an ambulance to the scene.

The operation was particularly challenging because the pit was deep and its opening measured only about 70 centimeters in diameter.

Rescuers had to erect a support frame above the opening and use specialized ropes to lower a team member into the pit to reach the stranded tourist.

The woman was subsequently brought safely to the surface.

She had sustained an injury to her right ankle and received first aid at the scene before being transferred to Lam Dong Provincial General Hospital for further treatment.

Following the incident, authorities advised tourists to exercise caution when hiking, particularly in the early morning when fog can reduce visibility or during rainy weather.

Hikers and outdoor enthusiasts were also encouraged to choose safe routes, travel in groups and inform family members of their planned itineraries in advance.
