Thao Trinh
Eric and Sarah, who married in 2017, have traveled extensively, visiting countries such as Ecuador, Peru, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, and the Philippines. They share their travel and culinary experiences on their YouTube channel, which has 50,000 followers.
In late May, the couple arrived in Vietnam, exploring various tourist destinations including Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, and Da Nang. To add a novel experience to their journey, they decided to travel from Da Nang to Hanoi by train instead of flying, despite the 17-hour duration.
To ensure privacy and facilitate filming, Eric and Sarah booked a VIP sleeper cabin designed for four passengers but occupied it alone. The cabin featured two lower beds and two foldable upper beds.
Sarah commented, "Although the journey lasted up to 17 hours, we still chose the train because we found this experience more interesting than a 1-hour flight."
Inside the cabin, the couple found a beautifully designed space with comfortable and neatly arranged interiors, including two-way air conditioning, a compact coffee table, a reading lamp, and bedding.
Sarah appreciated the delicate wall paintings depicting Vietnamese villages, adding, “I like the way they arranged this room, including the delicate wall paintings with images of Vietnamese villages.”
The VIP sleeper cabin provided air conditioning, WiFi, and complimentary food and drinks. The couple was impressed with the variety of dishes available, including soft drinks, filtered water, cakes, fruits, tea, coffee, and tissues.
After settling in, Eric and Sarah explored other areas of the train. They found the toilet small but clean, with a beautifully designed and luxurious sink area located at both ends of the train for passenger convenience.
After a long day of travel, the couple went to bed early. Eric enjoyed a hot breakfast of 10,000 VND minced meat porridge and 15,000 VND milk coffee. Sarah had a light breakfast served free of charge, including cakes, fresh milk, and fruit.
As the train moved through various landscapes, Sarah admired the green scenery outside the window, saying, "Look, we just passed through rice fields and some small towns. I even saw a few buffaloes on the way."
The couple enjoyed watching the bustling street scenes and busy traffic as the train passed through residential areas in Hanoi. They continuously cheered at the sight of houses located close to the railway.
After 17 hours of travel, Eric and Sarah arrived in Hanoi at nearly 12 noon. They cherished the experience of sitting on the train, enjoying the scenery, and exploring the unique aspects of traveling by train in Vietnam.
