Bach Mai Hospital's Ninh Binh campus officially welcomed its first patients on June 26, drawing large crowds from across northern Vietnam.

Doctors from Bach Mai Hospital boarded a dedicated train to its second campus in Ninh Binh for the first time, describing the journey as smoother, more comfortable and a welcome start to the working day.

Authorities have retrieved more than 39 billion VND and frozen multiple assets linked to a high-profile case involving losses and waste at Bach Mai 2 and Viet Duc 2 hospitals.

Vietnam has around 2,000 public and private hospitals. Under government orders, all hospitals must implement electronic medical records (EMRs) by the end of September, yet only a little over 600 have done so to date.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh has directed government agencies to urgently resolve all lingering issues and ensure that the second campuses of Bach Mai and Viet Duc Hospitals become operational by the end of 2025.
