Hackers recently used thousands of fake websites to deceive Vietnamese users and appropriate their bank and Facebook accounts.

The impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict is difficult to quantify, but critical systems need to be ready to respond to attacks and malware propagation, experts said.

The Department of Cyber Security and Hi-tech Crime Prevention, Ministry of Public Security (A05) announced that the Investigation Agency has prosecuted one cybercriminal in the attacker team on VOV Online Newspaper.

From late 2020 to the end of February 2021, the number of Vietnam’s IP addresses in botnets decreased by another 1 million to 917,492.

Taking advantage of the upcoming Tet holiday, when demand for online transactions, payments, gifts and to send lucky money increases, many hacker groups are stepping up their fraudulent activities aimed at users of banking services and e-wallets.

The demand for making transactions, payment and giving lucky money online has soared these days, giving hackers opportunities to increase their phishing activities.

Vietnam’s cybersecurity was being compromised, posing new challenges in ensuring information safety, especially in the finance-banking sector, State agencies and organisations.
