A few months ago, Chloé from New Zealand and her husband Ludvig from Sweden traveled through Vietnam on an extended holiday.

To fully appreciate the country’s landscapes and people, the couple decided to experience a luxury train journey from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, designed in a classic Indochine style combined with modern comforts.

For them, the trip was more than transportation - it became a luxurious and refined journey through Vietnam’s beauty and culture.

The itinerary lasted eight days and seven nights, with stops in Ninh Binh, Quang Binh, Hue, Hoi An, Nha Trang and Phan Thiet.

At each destination, travelers stayed overnight and joined curated tours to explore local culture, scenery and attractions in a deeper and more immersive way.

The train also moved at a slower pace, allowing passengers to comfortably admire the changing landscapes outside.

“This is the best way to explore Vietnam,” Chloé said enthusiastically.

The New Zealand traveler revealed that the couple booked a private cabin package priced at $19,780 for two people.

The cabin, measuring around 10 square meters, was designed like a compact luxury hotel room equipped with a comfortable bed, wardrobe, work desk, shoe rack, minibar and personal amenities.

Most notably, the cabin featured a private bathroom - still uncommon on traditional train journeys - giving passengers added comfort and privacy throughout the trip.

“Most trains we’ve traveled on before had bunk beds, but this was completely different. This is definitely the largest train cabin we’ve ever experienced. The space was truly spacious, beautiful and convenient.nIt gave us a very special and unique experience,” she said.

According to Chloé, the price included all onboard services, such as five-star-standard accommodation, meals, entertainment, guided excursions at each stop and personalized services throughout the journey.

Additional expenses such as shopping or special requests were charged separately.

Passengers were also served three meals a day in dedicated dining carriages.

Meals were prepared by chefs from five-star hotels, featuring a wide range of dishes from Vietnamese cuisine to Asian and Western menus.

Chloé said the thoughtfully arranged schedule made the trip feel relaxing and comfortable from beginning to end.

The couple also appreciated having enough time to enjoy the scenery and culture at each stop instead of rushing through destinations like many conventional tours.

“Trang An was truly one of the most peaceful places we’ve ever visited. And Hoi An is definitely somewhere we both want to return to again,” she shared.

Ludvig expressed similar feelings, saying he was highly impressed with the experience aboard Vietnam’s most expensive train and believed the cost matched the quality provided.

“This was definitely the longest and most incredible train journey we’ve ever experienced. What I’ll remember most isn’t only the places we visited, but also the people, the food and the beautiful stories throughout the trip. Traveling across Vietnam this way was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will never forget,” he said.
