Update news poverty reduction
The Minister of Agriculture and Environment has issued Decision No. 417, approving the National Target Program (NTP) for the period 2026–2035, with Phase I spanning from 2026 to 2030.
Vietnam strives for an annual poverty reduction rate of 1-1.5 percent in 2026-2030 under the new poverty standards.
Poverty reduction is one of the outstanding achievements of the 13th National Party Congress term. Poverty reduction targets consistently meet or exceed the goals set by the National Assembly and the Government.
Of the total, about 100 trillion VND will come from the central budget, 300 trillion VND from local budgets, and roughly 23 trillion VND from state-funded policy credit sources.

Since the launch of its Doi moi (Renewal), Vietnam has achieved a “miracle” in poverty reduction, lifting tens of millions out of hunger and helping them secure stable livelihoods.
The international community recognizes Vietnam as one of the countries with the fastest rare of poverty reduction, but in some areas, poverty rates remain at 50 to 70 percent.
Funding will come from the central budget, local budgets, capital from national and local programmes, credit, businesses' support, and contributions by people.
