Update news vietnam weather
Southern Vietnam faces a heightened risk of severe flooding on October 28-29 as strengthening cold air, easterly wind disturbances and high tides associated with the ninth lunar month's full moon converge.
Vietnam is forecast to experience mostly sunny weather on October 24-25, with temperatures reaching 31-34°C. Typhoon Champi is not expected to hit the mainland, but strong winds and rough seas are forecast in the northeastern East Sea.
Northern Vietnam is set for a return to sunny weather, with highs of 32-34°C as a cold air mass weakens rapidly. Super Typhoon Champi is heading toward Taiwan (China) and is not expected to directly affect Vietnam's mainland.
Super Typhoon Champi is generating powerful winds and waves up to six meters high in the northeastern East Sea, despite forecasts that it will not enter the region.
Super Typhoon Champi has intensified to force 17, with even stronger gusts, but is forecast to stay out of the East Sea. Its western circulation could still bring strong winds and high waves to the northern part of the sea.
A weak cold front will bring scattered showers to northern Vietnam from October 21, lowering temperatures by 1-2°C. However, the cooler weather is unlikely to last, with rainfall easing and temperatures rising again toward the weekend.
El Nino is forecast to remain exceptionally strong into early 2027, bringing unusually high winter temperatures to Vietnam while raising the risk of drought and saltwater intrusion in the country's southern regions.
Meteorologists warn that a powerful El Nino event could bring hotter temperatures, reduced rainfall and heightened climate risks to many parts of Vietnam.
