Many routes heading out of the capital are suffering from gridlock amid people leaving Hanoi to return to their hometowns for the seven-day Tet holiday starting on February 8.
A number of restaurants and shops around Hanoi announced their temporarily closure on February 7, the 28th of the last lunar month, two days before lunar new year’s eve.
Hanoi authorities will organise numerous vibrant and appealing culture activities to attract visitors to the capital city during the 2024 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.
The 44th spring flower festival kicked off at Tao Dan Park in Ho Chi Minh City on February 6 evening as part of the activities to welcome the Lunar New Year (Tet) – the biggest and oldest festival in Vietnam.
With Tet beginning this week, Vietnamese families are preparing tasty trays of food including bánh chưng, giò xào and canh bóng to delight each other and celebrate the year ahead.
HEINEKEN Vietnam has been implementing “HEINEKEN Cares - Joining hands towards a happy and healthy Tet” program in collaboration with the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
To welcome in the Lunar New Year Ho Chi Minh City has been decorated with national flags, bulbs, flowers, and posters, giving roads around the city a touch of colour and bringing joy to local people as the festive season approaches.
As part of efforts to mark the Lunar New Year, dragon mascots have been installed at various locations across the central province of Thua Thien - Hue province, with the sites attracting a large number of people and tourists.
Hanoi Book Street will remain open during the Tet holiday under the theme "Knowledge in Hand - Spring with a Thousand Blessings".
In addition to the eight locations announced earlier for fireworks displays, HCM City will add another three locations for the 2024 Lunar New Year (Tet) celebration.
A drone light show expected to set a Southeast Asian record is scheduled to take place by the side of Ho Tay (West Lake) in Hanoi on the eve of the Year of the Dragon on February 9.
The “Tren ben duoi thuyen” (On the Wharf – In the Boat) flower floating fair, one of the most-visited attractions in Ho Chi Minh City during Tet Festival, opened at Binh Dong Wharf, District 8 on February 4 (the 25th day of the 12th lunar month).
