Job Description

Job overview:

We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the neutralization, bleaching, and deodorization of vegetable oils.

As a Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing these critical processes to ensure the consistent production of high-quality oil products that meet or exceed industry standards. Your role will involve managing and developing production personnel, creating efficient production schedules, and maintaining strict adherence to company policies. Additionally, you will be accountable for meeting established targets for receiving, production, and shipping.

Key responsibilities:

1. Neutralization

  • Monitor neutralization equipment and processes to remove free fatty acids and other impurities from crude vegetable oil.
  • Adjust chemical dosages and processing conditions to achieve optimal results.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance on neutralization equipment to ensure efficient operation.

2. Bleaching

  • Monitor bleaching equipment to remove color pigments, oxidation products, and other impurities from oil.
  • Manage the dosage and application of bleaching agents.
  • Ensure proper filtration and separation of bleaching earth from the oil.

3. Deodorization

  • Monitor deodorization equipment to remove volatile compounds, off-flavors, and odors from vegetable oil.
  • Adjust temperature, pressure, and steam flow rates to achieve desired product specifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of deodorization equipment.

4. Quality Control:

Ensure the products meet quality and food safety standards.

  • Perform regular sampling and testing of oil products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Document and report processing parameters, adjustments, and product quality results.
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address any deviations or issues.

Operational Efficiency

  • Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; monitoring personnel and resources; implementing cost reductions.
  • Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
  • Report downtime and any problem in the plant in time. Report immediate to the superior on issues related to productivity, output, workload etc.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance towards safety regulations at all lines. To ensure safety regulations adhere at the workplace.
  • Monitor process parameters and make adjustments to optimize production efficiency and minimize waste.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues to maintain continuous production flow.
  • Implement and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.

5. Training and Development: Ensure training/instruction is performed for new employees and effective.

  • Assist in training new operators and staff in processing techniques and equipment operation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in vegetable oil processing technology

Authority:

  1. Independent in implementing assigned tasks and complying with company regulations.
  2. To be entitled to request and recommend superior to innovation, and improvements in work.
  3. To be entitled to request production stop production when detecting serious incidents in quality until the problem is resolved.

Job Requirement

Education: Graduated from College or University majoring in Food Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture, or related field.

Experience: Having 3-4 years of experience in production supervision; minimum of 2 years of experience in the neutralization, bleaching, and deodorization of vegetable oils is advantageous.

Technical competencies:

  • Have knowledge of food hygiene and safety, and production process.
  • Understanding production processes, GMP, HACCP, ISO, BRC is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of chemical and mechanical processes involved in vegetable oil refining.

Other competencies:

  • Proficient with Microsoft skills excel report
  • Working well with many different departments and external suppliers.
  • Stress management with multiple demands in a team environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate clearly with colleagues
